Biography

Once upon a time, they called him 'India's Murali', only to be eventually disappointed. Mohnish Parmar, a right-arm off spinner from Gujarat made waves in domestic cricket with his bowling, but that's only how far he could reach. He debuted in a first-class match against Assam in 2007. Mohnish also represented the Indian Under-19 side and was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2010 IPL edition.

A bowling action likened to that of Sri Lanka's greatest bowler, Muttiah Muralidaran helped Mohnish establish himself as one of the most prolific wicket-takers in Gujarat's domestic front. But, it did not last long as in 2006, he was suspected of an incorrect bowling technique that needed some rectification, and was disallowed to play in the Duleep Trophy. He was then sent to the Australian Institute of Sports at Canberra, where the reports pointed out flaws in his action. Mohnish corrected his action at the NCA and was later cleared by the BCCI in 2009.
