Biography
Travis Birt is an Australian cricketer who plays state cricket for Tasmania. He is a middle-order batsman and also an occasional wicket-keeper. He has also played first-class and List A cricket for Derbyshire since 2003.
In 2004-05, Birt posted a marvelous knock of 145 against South Australia. He made his first-class debut in the same season. A stand-out 2005-06 season saw him earn a place in the Australia A team. Later in 2006-07, he was part of the triumphant Tasmanian side, making some valuable contributions towards the team. His innings of 160 against New South Wales included seven sixes and nineteen fours. He is a former Academy and Australia Under-19 player.
In February 2010, he made his Twenty20 International and subsequent international debut for Australia against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The following year, he was bought by the IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils for the tournament’s fourth season. However, in 2012, Birt was ruled out of the entire competition due to injury.
