Biography

The son of former BCCI secretary, Niranjan Shah, Jaydev Shah is an effective run-getter in the middle order of the Saurashtra cricket team. His leadership skills bagged him the captaincy of Saurashtra. He led the team to victory in the 2007-08 Ranji one-dayers, the team’s first ever national level title. They had earlier reached the semi-final of the Ranji trophy, a coup they repeated in the 2008-09 season. He also led the Indian squad on the tour of Israel.

Jaydev was signed by Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural season of the IPL, but did not play a single game. He was also a part of the Mumbai Indians camp in the following editions. In 2011, Hyderabad (then Deccan Chargers) signed him for the fourth season. However, he returned to the Mumbai camp in 2012.
